SWTOR: A short advice

This is why you play SWTOR with drivers installed on your computer.

Twi'lek on my laptop:

Same poor twi'lek on my boyfriend's computer without drivers:

After an hour of handing in quests at eyeless zombies (they were kind and thankful zombies, it has to be said, but still), my boyfriend was very eager to install all proper drivers on his computer. This means I'm able to play Star Wars on his pc again when I don't have the laptop, hurray!

  1. Creepy! I had some graphical issues earlier, too, but on Mass Effect - some patches of outside terrain on Therun (where you find Liara) weren't showing up colored, so I had to guess where the ground ended and the lava began when driving the Mako. It was an adventure! (I quick-saved...a lot...)

    1. I thought it was interesting that the game looked perfect, even without drivers, save this rather peculiar detail... Yup, Mass Effect can also have some glitches now and then (*thinks of fish* - *shivers*). Quick-saving in ME 1 is always a good thing to do anyway, the game doesn't do that enough automatically. It's better in ME 2 and 3, you won't have to save (much) there at all.

What do you think of Mass Effect so far? Liara is cute, eh?

    2. Just finished my second playthrough of ME1 last night! My only disappointment was not hitting level 60; I must have used the Mako for too many outside enemies and missed out on the experience. Also skipped a lot of containers at the end because I just wanted to fiiinnnniiiishhh... But anyway

I think -everyone- is cute in their own way, even Ashley, because Shepard helps them grow and become more mature and responsible (I am 100% Paragon, heh) as the game progresses. Garrus might be my new favorite, but I'll have to wait and see how he progresses in ME2.

    3. Hehe, I agree on the containers, it's one of the more boring things of ME 1. You're right, I first thought Ashley was just a racist. Keeps surprising me how she can tell all these nice stories about her family and then ends with "too bad we have all these scary aliens on our ship". >.< Happy she became nicer in the end. :)

  2. Haha. She looks possessed by some evil force! Now she just needs a creepy voice and she would be perfect for a horror movie. :)

    1. Haha, true! Our own characters also looked like that, it was all pretty creepy, really. The twi'lek reminded me a bit of an Asari getting possessed (getting turned into a banshee) or sharing memories from Mass Effect - they get those black eyes too then, but I haven't seen enough horror movies to name a proper horror monster. ^^

  3. Ha, that's one of the more interesting driver issues I've seen. On a side note, your screen shots are beautiful, can I ask what you use to take them?

    1. Thank you! I use Fraps to capture them and save them in .png-format.
